For years, I have been a football mom, pageant mom, scout mom, chauffeur, cheerleader, fundraiser, and mentor ... pouring my heart into others, ensuring they had everything they needed to chase their dreams. And I wouldn’t trade that for anything. But during the 2023/2024 pageant, I made a choice.
I chose me.
Not because I wanted to prove something. Not because I needed validation. Not because I stopped caring about my family, friends, and community. I did it for myself ... because for once, it was my time to step into the spotlight.

The Power of Doing Something for YOU
Women give endlessly. We’re the ones on the sidelines in the pouring rain, the ones sewing last-minute patches onto a scout uniform, the ones staying up past midnight helping with school projects. We celebrate others, uplift them, and push them toward their goals.
But what about our own goals?
When I decided to compete in a pageant, it wasn’t because I needed a title or a trophy. It wasn’t about competing against anyone else. It was about honoring my own journey, setting a goal for myself, and proving, to me, that I was worthy of the same encouragement I so freely gave to others.
It’s Not Selfish—It’s Necessary
Some people may think that choosing yourself means neglecting others, but that couldn’t be further from the truth. When you pour into yourself, you have even more to give to those around you. Competing in the pageant reminded me of my own strength, resilience, and confidence. It allowed me to rediscover who I am beyond the roles I fill for others.
And that is something we all deserve.
So, if you’ve been waiting for a sign to step out of the background and into your own spotlight ... this is it. Chase your dreams, set goals, and don’t be afraid to do something just for you. Because when you choose yourself, you show the world—and yourself—that you are just as important as the people you love.
This year, choose you. You’re worth it. ❤️
