As part of the national prize package, our titleholders are treated to a once in a lifetime cruise vacation with their sister queens. Check out Kristen's recount of her week at sea as our 2017 Ambassador of American Women.
I can't believe that I made it to my mid-thirties without ever having gone on a proper girls trip. The first time I did was with an amazing group of ladies from the American Women of Service pageant. This past July I competed in the American Women of Service pageant and became the Ambassador of American Women. I knew when I won that joining this sisterhood would be one of the highlights of my year.
I didn't realize at first that with winning this title that I would get to go on a cruise with my new pageant sisters. I had been on cruises before but never with an awesome group of women. I was both nervous and excited before we left because we all hadn’t spent that much time together before. There was no need to be nervous at all. I want to thank Jasmine, our fearless leader for taking us on this cruise so that I could get to know her and my sisters so much better.
We left out of New York City on a Norwegian Cruise Lines boat setting sail for the Bahamas. The week was a total blast, and we just decided collectively to go with the flow and have fun instead of stick to a certain daily schedule. We knew that sunshine and warm temps were on their way so what else could you really ask for? We packed in everything you could pack into a week-long trip; we watched the shows, tempted ourselves by hanging around the jewelry counter way longer than we should have, and took our time working our way through the different restaurants on the boat.
We also took full advantage of getting off the boat in each port. We had so many great laughs, so many opportunities to create inside jokes, and then laughed even harder... I think by the end of the week everyone on the boat recognized us and knew that we were the American Women of Service ladies because we were walking around in a pack, all smiling and having a great time all week long.
This was a great way to meet new people and introduce them to the pageant system. I'm excited for the system to continue to grow and for more women to get to go on this great bonding experience together. For my first real girls trip this was absolutely epic. This has been a total highlight of my year of serving as the Ambassador for American Women of Service. I'll always treasure the memories, photos, and the continued laughter. I'm excited to see going who's next year. This has been an amazing first year of this pageant system and I'm so honored to be a part of it.
